When Bachchan ji went to Armenia (circa 1970), a local (lady) singer wanted to buy a drink for him but the poet of Madhushala politely refused with a heartful cheers. The poet kept his vow of not drinking ever again.
\nप्रण-प्रतिज्ञा ले निभाना भी उन्हें मै जानता हूँ, आत्मबल की कर परीक्षा पूर्ण उनको ठानता हूँ!
\nThere is also a poetic description of different times of the day – Daybreak, Dusk, and after dark. The poet has beautifully weaved an otherwise boring day into familiar symbols of Madhushala.
\nसाकी बन आती है प्रातः जब अरुणा ऊषा बाला,
\nउतर नशा जब उसका जाता, आती है संध्या बाला,
\nतारकदल से पीनेवाले, रात नहीं है, मधुशाला
Then a verse about Shri Krishna and who all Madhushala can make dance to her tunes!
\nयोगिराज कर संगत उसकी नटवर नागर कहलाए, देखो कैसों-कैसों को है नाच नचाती मधुशाला
