Every cause, issue or disease has a color or a month. But I wanted to talk to you about why OCD Awareness Week is so important and how you can take part with even the smallest of gestures.\n\n\nOCD is one of the most misunderstood disorders. Which is sad considering it can be one of the most debilitating conditions a person can experience. \n\n\nPart of the reason OCD is so debilitating is due to the lack of understanding OCD. \n\n\nKids are misdiagnosed or not diagnosed at all.\nStereotypes perpetuate shame and guilt.\nPeople remain quiet out of fear of embarrassment and labeling.\n\n\nSo what could help with this? \n\n\nKnowledge. \n\n\nSpread the knowledge in any way you can. You can check out all the inspiring things the International OCD Foundation is doing this week to bring OCD awareness out from the shadows by clicking here.\n\n\nHelp your child.\n\n\nUse this week to celebrate your child. Show them videos and pictures people are posting using the hashtag #FACEYOURFEAR and #OCDWEEK to show them how other people are being brave in support of them.\n\n\nHave a movie night where you make popcorn and watch the documentary Unstuck: an OCD Kids Movie.\n\n\nEducate yourself and others by taking my free online mini-course, Misunderstanding About Childhood OCD. Understand Your Child’s OCD. Learn the Facts. Enroll and watch it here.\n\n\n***\nParents do you need more support? Join my AT Community at: Http://www.atparentingcommunity.com\n \nHere’s are more resources I offer parents 👇🏻❤️\n \nGet a free PDF on some of the most common reasons why kids are scared to sleep:\n\n\nPDF short link:\nHttp://bit.ly/sleepfears\n \nMy new online class “How to Help Kids Who are Scared to Sleep” is open!
