Phew!)</p><p>Given that almost 500 pubs have closed down here in recent years we wanted to know from Laura, brought up in a pub and in the trade for decades, how she would save the Irish pub…She gives loads of proven, real world, examples.</p><p>Her 'hire in a heartbeat' is football manager Lisa Fallon</p><p><br></p><p>Husband and wife duo <strong>Bhagya and Robert Barrett</strong> met in a pub and started talking distillery immediately. The now married couple have set up the Rebel City Distillery, makers of the Maharani gin, flavoured with spices from Bhagya's home state of Kerala in India. This Indian/Ireland flavour mix is what makes their gin stand out in a crowded market. They have already launched Ireland's first absinthe. There's a very different vodka on the way and they also talk about an up and coming rum. Next stop, the US where they want any contacts they can get to help spread the Rebel City name.</p><p>Robert's 'hire in a heartbeat' is Danish beer pioneer, Mikkel Borg Bjergso.
