From Saturday’s crisis to Tuesday night relief in Lancashire!
After the dark clouds of the Woking defeat, the Blues delivered the perfect response at Mill Farm, battling to a gritty 2-0 win over AFC Fylde to claim our first away victory and first clean sheet of the campaign, and taking some much-needed heat off Rob Elliot.
Before getting stuck into the match debrief, we kick off with transfer news as defender Tom Anderson seals a return to Brunton Park for a second loan spell - more than a decade after his first temporary stay in Cumbria!
We then break down an evening on the Fylde coast where substance firmly won out over style. We look at a disciplined defensive shift that heavily restricted the hosts, two clinical goals forged through relentless pressing and sharp counter-attacking, stand-out performances from Jack Ellis and Morgan Feeney, Regan Linney’s timely return to form, and another superb away backing on a Tuesday night.
Finally, we turn our attention south to preview Saturday’s clash against surprise package Aldershot Town. Widely tipped for the drop in pre-season, the Shots find themselves sitting seventh in the play-off spots a quarter of the way through the campaign. Can their bewildering squad churn of 22 signings in and 23 out keep defying the odds? And can United keep a lid on in-form Tristan Abrahams, whose flying start to the season is in stark contrast to his miserable spell for the Blues a few years back?
