What is Depression?\n- Circumstantial depression is a severe, severe disappointment in life\n- Everyone struggles with depression \n- This is shown perfectly in the story of Elijah in 1 Kong’s 18 & 19\n- We have a picture, or expectation of what life should or will be like \n- When life does not turn out this way, or something tragic occurs, we become depressed\n\n2. How Does Depression Make Someone Feel?\n- Job 9:25-35\n- Depression sucks the joy out of all aspects of life\n- Depression makes us feel like our lives are wasting away\n- Depression causes us to feel alone and isolated\n- Depression causes us to dread each day\n- Depression makes us feel hopeless and useless\n- Depression makes us feel irredeemable\n\n3. How Do We Deal With Depression?\n- Job 9:25-35\n- Psalm 42:5\n- Acknowledge it / Embrace it\n- If your spouse is suffering, understand and come alongside them\n- Hope in God\n- “Hope” means to wait for an expected end\n- Understand that God is using problems in our lives to cause us to turn to Him and trust Him\n- The ultimate goal of life is not my happiness, my relief, or my comfort\n- The ultimate goal is for God to make me like Him (Christ)\n- Trust God in the midst of depression (or any other problem) and rest in Him as He molds you into the image of Christ","author_name":"Andrew McKinney"}
