\"When the Levee Breaks\" comes from a blues song recorded by Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe McCoy in 1929. Kansas Joe McCoy & Memphis Minnie wrote this song for the 1927 Mississippi floods that destroyed about half of the Mississippi Basin- hundreds of thousands of people lost everything and regions farms suffered major damage. The song reached maximum success in the cover by rock band Led Zeppelin. Please listen to this episode in its entirety.
