Voting starts in eleven days. Absentee voting begins Monday, September 21st. Monday, October 5th is the voter registration deadline. Absentee ballots that are returned by mail must be postmarked on or before election day: November 3rd 2026.</p><p>According to <a href=\"https://www.npr.org/2026/09/10/nx-s1-5963880/trump-republican-midterm-convention-vance \" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">NPR as heard on our station this morning</a>:</p><p>At the Republican midterm convention in Dallas, President Trump made a stunning and implausible pledge: to send every American adult a $5,000 cash dividend. But only if his party maintains control of the House and the Senate in November's midterms. . . .</p><p>Quick math puts the bill for this proposed \"dividend\" at more than $1 trillion. Plus, it's illegal to pay or be paid to influence voting.</p><p><br></p><p>Francis was an inspiration for a segment of our show! One day on social media, Francis mentioned: the Posse Commitatus Act. Liz had no idea what that was. No clue. So, we started: Legal Terms on In Legal Terms.
