On May 1st Foodsters United went public with the #Justice4Couriers campaign, an effort driven by Foodora couriers in Toronto to formally unioinize with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers. One of the first campaigns of its kind in the city, the goal is to become one of the first groups of unionized workers in Toronto's developing gig economy.
Foodsters United organizer, Foodora courier and local Playwright Thomas McKechnie joins to discuss the nature of gig economy work in Toronto, shedding light on how Foodora compensates couriers and some of the dangers on the job.
