He is without a doubt one of the nicest and friendliest people I know.</p>\r\n<p>Biography</p>\r\n<p>Campanelli was born and raised in <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamilton,_Ontario\" target=\"_blank\">Hamilton, Ontario</a>; he is the youngest of four siblings.He was first introduced to the MuchMusic viewers in 1996 as the winner of <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MuchMusic\" target=\"_blank\">MuchMusic</a>‘s 1994 <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MuchTemp\" target=\"_blank\">MuchTemp</a> <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Competition\" target=\"_blank\">contest</a>. Originally nicknamed “The Temp” (or, famously, “Rick the Temp“), Campanelli’s boyish charm, personality and laid-back approach made him an instant favourite among Much viewers. Campanelli has since been labeled “The Franchise” for his long tenure and high popularity while on MuchMusic.</p>\r\n<p>He was a MuchMusic <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VJ_(media_personality)\" target=\"_blank\">video jockey</a>, co-host of <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Much_on_Demand\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Much on Demand</em></a><em>: Primetime</em>, writer of <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Countdown_(MuchMusic_program)\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The MuchMusic Countdown</em></a>and co-host of <em>The MuchMusic Radio Countdown</em>. He also appeared briefly in the comedy <em>Superstar</em>. He was subsequently announced as one of the reporters for <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ET_Canada\" target=\"_blank\"><em>ET Canada</em></a>, a new Canadian licensee of <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entertainment_Tonight\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Entertainment Tonight</em></a>, which was launched on September 12, 2005.</p>\r\n<p>Campanelli is involved with several charitable organizations including <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Vision_International\" target=\"_blank\">World Vision</a>, Tuberous Sclerosis, <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Brothers_Big_Sisters_of_Canada\" target=\"_blank\">Big Brothers/Big Sisters</a>, <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McMaster_Children%27s_Hospital\" target=\"_blank\">McMaster Children’s Hospital</a>, and <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kids_Help_Phone\" target=\"_blank\">Kids Help Phone</a>.<a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Campanelli#cite_note-2\">[2]</a> On May 27, 2009, he hosted the <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youth_and_Philanthropy_Initiative\" target=\"_blank\">Youth and Philanthropy Initiative</a> in <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto\">Toronto</a>.</p>","author_name":"David Peck"}
