A host of studies and reports has linked insufficient sleep to&nbsp;<a href=\"http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/10/20/sleep-for-teenagers/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">depression</a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http://www.newyorker.com/science/maria-konnikova/the-walking-dead\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">ADHD</a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/08/06/how-sleep-loss-adds-to-weight-gain/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">obesity</a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/sleep-newzzz/201401/sleep-deprivation-raises-diabetes-risk\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Type 2 diabetes</a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http://www.newyorker.com/science/maria-konnikova/the-walking-dead\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">cardiovascular disease</a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http://www.businessinsider.com.au/what-happens-when-you-dont-get-enough-sleep-2015-7\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">cancer</a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/brains-flush-toxic-waste-in-sleep-including-alzheimers-linked-protein-study-of-mice-finds/2013/10/19/9af49e40-377a-11e3-8a0e-4e2cf80831fc_story.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Alzheimer’s</a>. Back in 2014, the CDC labeled&nbsp;<a href=\"http://www.cdc.gov/features/dssleep/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">sleep deprivation a public health epidemic</a>— with over 70 million adults suffering from a sleep disorder.</p><p><br></p><p>On today’s episode I interviewed sleep and rest expert, Amanda Slinger to explore the topic.&nbsp;Amanda has a medical background and over 20 years of experience working in educating organisations on the critical role that rest and sleep play in optimising individual and collective performance.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Leading her team at SleepSpot, she has built a visionary, science-based Employee Recharge Programme, which is reshaping the landscape of workplace wellbeing by helping organisations nurture a healthy, engaged and happy workforce.
