Are You Stunting Your People's Growth? 5 rules for leading without over-functioning","description":"<p>I came across a great quote recently, thanks to one of the leaders in our inner circle, <a href=\"http://linkedin.com/in/natasha-read-75b0362\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Natasha Read</a>.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>It was a quote from<a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Montessori\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"> Maria Montessori</a>, who devised the Montessori method of teaching.</p><p><br></p><p>The method focuses on the development of a child's inherent initiative and ability, allowing them to develop at their own pace. It emphasises growth through independence and experimentation.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The quote is a blinder… “<em>Everything you do </em><strong><em>for</em></strong><em> me, you take </em><strong><em>from</em></strong><em> me!</em>”</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>It hit me like a pie in the face: I immediately thought of the principle of working at level, which is a critical part of the <em>No Bullsh!t Leadership</em> framework.</p><p><br></p><p>There are lots of good reasons to <strong><em>not</em></strong> over function for the people you lead, and this might just be the most compelling of those reasons.
