On this week’s Geektown Radio, Dave is joined by Domingos from The Sunday Film Club to chat through another packed week of TV, film and gaming, including ‘Neagley’, ‘Marvel’s Midnight Suns’, ‘Lanterns’, and the possibility of ‘24’ bringing Jack Bauer back for another very bad day!
Domingos kicks things off with Prime Video’s ‘Neagley’, discussing how the ‘Reacher’ spin-off gives its leading investigator a distinct identity while retaining the action and humour that make the franchise so enjoyable. He also reviews the fourth season of ‘Ted Lasso’, as AFC Richmond’s women’s team takes centre stage, with some new faces making a big impression.
Then we get into a spoiler-filled discussion of the ‘Lanterns’ finale, looking at its central partnership, the mysteries surrounding Hal Jordan and John Stewart, and where the story could go next. There’s plenty to unpack in DC’s grounded detective drama, particularly when those detectives happen to possess rather unusual jewellery…
Meanwhile, Dave has finished the third season of ‘Vigil’ and caught up with ‘Toy Story 5’, which puts Jessie in the spotlight while exploring the battle between toys and screens. He also checks in on the second season of the ‘Scrubs’ revival, gives his first impressions of Sky’s divorce drama ‘WAR’, and continues enjoying ‘Slow Horses’. On the gaming side, he’s finally opened ‘Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ from his Steam library and discovered an absorbing mix of tactical battles, superhero friendships and mysteries around the Abbey.
In the news, we discuss renewals for ‘Reacher’, ‘Neagley’ and ‘Tulsa King’, alongside the endings of ‘The Cage’ and ‘Travel Man’. There’s also ‘The Watcher’ finally returning to production, Sky’s acquisition of ‘Line Of Fire’, a batch of UK premiere announcements, and the curious arrival of ‘NCIS’ Season 23 on Disney+ UK.
Plus, we explore a potential Spider-Man Clone Saga series, casting additions for ‘Bloodaxe’, and the latest talk surrounding a ‘24’ revival and ‘Young Guns 3’.
Finally, we look ahead to the next week’s TV, including ‘Carrie’, ‘Grimsburg’, ‘The Party’, ‘Time’ and ‘Treasure Island’.
