He is a leading authority on the rise of global authoritarianism, a Fulbright Scholar, economist, lawyer, and author.</p><p><strong>Major General (Retd) Mick Ryan AM </strong>is a Senior Fellow for Military Studies in the Lowy Institute’s International Security Program.
