Antiques Anonymous
Hippies Use the Back Door
Season 1, Ep. 5
•
This episode, Jon and Alexander ensure they never get booked for any more TV shows by talking candidly about antiques on the telly, revealing some of their own experiences in front of and behind the cameras, as well as their views on whether the television industry has worked for good or ill in the antiques world. They also introduce the new segment 'Did They Get it Wrong?', looking at the Antiques Trade Gazette's now infamous 'Bid Barometer' sidebar and critiquing the results therein. How many more enemies can they make? Don't forget to rate and review the show and/or head over to www.buymeacoffee.com/antiquesanonymous to throw some groats at your hosts.

7. General Purpose
58:03||Season 1, Ep. 7The podcast by two guys who are a little bit addicted to antiques. Jon and Alexander are back in the Torpedo Room for another rambling chat, this time about the gradual disappearance of the weekly general auction. Is it on the way out or is there still a future for this time honoured and well loved part of the antiques trade? We hear about what Alexander used to get up to in the back of his Ford Mondeo in the good old days, Jon expresses his dislike of specialist auctions and reveals how he'd do it if he ran his own saleroom, and Alexander risks offending the entire nation of Australia. Plus, your hosts reveal the topic of the next ep. 01:13:48||Season 1, Ep. 6In this episode, Jon and Alexander talk about the many merits and demerits of social media in the antiques world, confess to a little guerilla marketing and give a shout-out to 'rival' podcast The Gavel and the Gabble (hello Harry and Simon!). Also in the rambling Torpedo Room convo, Jon discovers that he just squeaks into Generation X but has no idea what that means, what shabby chic really looks like when you get it home, a little more gentle dunking of the Antiques Roadshow, and why Jon is emphatically not wowed by a crumpled old top hat - and why would he be? All this and more from your favourite antiques anoraks.Return of the Teaser Trailer

01:01:29||Season 1, Ep. 4Once again, Alexander and Jonny are broadcasting from the Torpedo Room in a face-to-face pod. In this episode of Antiques Anonymous, Alexander and Jonny have a rambling chat about the world of antiques, not sticking to a theme but letting the conversation go where it will. This includes quite a bit of ivory talk, playing the eBay game 'Spot the Money Launderer', and the worst taxidermy fox Alexander ever saw. 57:47||Season 1, Ep. 3After what seems like forever, Alexander and Jonny get together in the Torpedo Room (aka Jonny's place of bizzzzness) to talk about antiques again, this time fulfilling a promise made too long ago for anyone to really care about and discuss how the Internet has made an impact on the industry. We hear about the longest ADSL cable in history, how condition reports were done before email was a thing, the joys of selling to a room full of grumpy dealers who hate live bidding, why shouting 'hello America' during an auction may not be the best idea and what Jonny likes to do with his mouse to wind up auctioneers.Another Teaser Trailer
03:42||Season 1, Ep. 0Surely not another teaser trailer? Yes. It is. So here Jonny and Alexander are again cueing up the topic for the next episode of Antiques Anonymous which will be . . . [drum roll] . . . The Internet. There's going to be so much to unpack it might be another marathon session - who knows? We certainly don't. So make sure you like and subscribe because you won't want to miss it. OO-RAH!2. DANGER! There's Antiques About
46:03||Season 1, Ep. 2In this episode, the intrepid Antiques Geeks Jonny and Alexander talk about DANGER in the world of antiques and art. They explore the murky world of pre-health and safety objet d'art, and how viewing an auction could be hazardous to life and limb. Well, almost. Alexander recalls a nearly nasty case of longcase clock vs wheelchair, Jonny spends some time playing with chemicals and recounting the tail of the poisonous rabbit. He also reveals a somewhat explosive and potentially lethal skip dive, and talking of explosives, Alexander remembers a colleague's anecdote about the contents of an ammunition box found during a probate valuation. You really don't want to miss this episode. Also, to see the YouTube video Alexander talks about towards the end, you can find it here - and it is definitely worth a look https://youtu.be/nZxLrhtdh_k - enjoy, BOOM!Teaser Trailer
