An Experiment Too Far

An experiment too Far ep 6 - Fuzztail

This is episode 6 of my podcast. This episode is called 'Fuzztail'. It features the wonderful Keith Buckman, chatting about music, playing on my album and escapism (cos that's the theme of my new album, I may have mentioned it).

Also, I went on a bit of a mission to figure out where my missing CDs are. It didn't end well.

(Bonus blurry Gareth in the background in the photo there. He isn't in the episode. Which might count as a lucky escape).

  • An Experiment Too Far Episode 5 - Time Stands Still

    21:22|
    I played a gig! I played a gig! Also my new album is nearly out. This episode has a bit of that gig, including an acoustic version of the song Time Stands Still from the new album. The Voice of Doubt makes an appearance too. I'm sorry. I should deal with him. You can find the album here.
  • 4. An Experiment Too Far Episode 4 - Do I have to listen to one of these with Gareth Cole?

    34:01||Season 1, Ep. 4
    Here's episode 4 of An Experiment Too Far. In this one, much to the displeasure of one of the Andys who left a message asking about the possibility, we hear from Gareth Cole. We talk about funny time signatures and the many, many bands he plays in.The Voice of Doubt makes a brief appearance at the end. I should probably do something about it, shouldn't I?Gareth can be heard on all sorts of releases, including my EP of songs, Spirit Box.He also plays a fantastic solo on my song Drop Dead's Punching Above His Weight Again.And his band Fractal Mirror have a new album on pre-order here.
  • An Experiment Too Far Episode 3 - Cheese and Sheds

    39:18|
    Here's episode 3 of my podcast, An Experiment Too Far. In this episode I explain to the Voice of Doubt that I am definitely fine with reviews, it's fine, it's not a problem. I also chat with Ben Bell about playing keyboards for the new album. Also about cheese. And sheds. You can find Ben's music at: Broken Parachute Patchwork Cacophony Gandalf's Fist
  • 2. An Experiment Too Far Episode 2 - Horses and Crows

    39:05||Season 1, Ep. 2
    Here's episode 2 of my podcast An Experiment Too Far - Horse and Crows. This one contains an interview with Michael Cairns, who drums on the new album. It also contains a bit of silliness with James Turner about my next gig (and actual gig!).  Most importantly, it contains the last bit of silliness that Andy Hall had a hand in. Long term fans may be aware that Andy Hall, of the Union of Andys, recently died. This was very unexpected so has hit out little prog community hard. Andy was keen for me to finished the silly story I started about a horse and some crows - he even went so far as to create a couple of fake twitter accounts so the horse and crows could continue stalking me. We recorded this episode before his untimely death, but I think he would have appreciated me leaving it as is to preserve every moment of absurdity.  Enjoy! • 1. An Experiment Too Far Episode 1 - Am I My Yoko Ono?

    30:56||Season 1, Ep. 1
    In the first episode of An Experiment Too Far weird-fiction singer-songwriter Tom Slatter attempts to tell you about his new album Escape. He is helped by music writer and all round good-egg James Turner, hindered by the disembodied Voice of Doubt and side tracked by the question of what a solo artist is supposed to do when they have artistic differences with themselves.  Escape is out on 1st October 2021. The first single, Rats, is out now. Stream it or get more info here.
