Speak Your Voice with Dr. Damary Bonilla-Rodriguez

Season 3, Ep. 127

Speaking up for ourselves and the causes we love is something we all need to face in life. However, many people avoid doing it because of the feeling of stress and anxiety that can come with it. How can we overcome the fear of speaking up while making our voices heard simultaneously? One of the best ways to accomplish this is through practice. You can start with something small in your everyday life. When you want to speak up for something, push yourself out of your comfort zone. Take a deep breath and tell yourself you are strong and capable and that your voice matter. Remember, sometimes in life, we must push ourselves out of our comfort zones and accept uncomfortable feelings to make great things happen.

In this episode, I am joined by Dr. Damary Bonilla-Rodriguez. Dr. Damary is a leading national authority on leadership development, especially regarding diversity and inclusion. She delivers keynote addresses and presentations, drawing upon her experience from roles in the nonprofit, private, and government sectors, as well as her doctoral research. Her research about Latina leadership in the United States has served as the foundation for events, conference sessions, publications, and content development to address the urgency of leadership development for a fast-growing population and create a pipeline of diverse leaders. Dr. Damary’s work around leadership and women empowerment work has been featured on NBC, Latinos Latina Leaders Series, Chief Writing Wolf and Proud to be Latinas Empowered Latina series.
