The Inlabbuut and Other WW2 Horror Stories

Season 1, Ep. 95

Even though we're two weeks out now, we honor D-Day on this episode by going over some incredibly disturbing and very frightening horror stories from the Second World War. This episode was meant to drop last week but due to technical issues I've patched it up and decided to treat our listeners with not only an Almost Canon + bonus episode but this early drop as well.

So this week we talk with Mick Strange from Chasing Bad about several creatures seen by not only American GI's but also British and Indian soldiers as well. these creatures include the Inlabuut from Philippine folklore and also flying humanoids and pterodactyl like beasts called Indava Birds. We also share a story about a solider who is broken from war and darkness and the terrors brought down on an isolated Swiss village.

  • 96. The Real Life Lore Behind Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

    52:52
This week We take a closer look at my all time favorite Play Station franchise Uncharted. We start by taking a deeper look at game 1 Drake's Fortune.    This game not only pushed the limits on what the newly released play station 3 could do but on what a newly released video game could do. Uncharted drake’s fortune was nothing short of a technical masterpiece that paved the way for countless other games. It also utilized motion capture unlike anything that came before resulting in a cinematic experience that was unlike anything seen before.     Now we aren’t a video game show. We’re not here to talk about how advanced Unchsrtes was for its time; plus I certainly wouldn’t be gushing over it if it wasn’t for the story line. And it’s because of that story line that we’re talking about it tonight. Uncharted Drake’s Fortune isn’t just an action adventure, story driven game, it’s an Indiana Jones fan’s wet dream! This game involves everything from lost gold to lost cities to  nazis and even supernatural monsters.     So tonight we’re going to take a deeper look at the real life lore behind the story of Unchsrted Drake’s Fortune.      1realize this episode is slightly different than what we usually cover, but ever since I started Almost Canon I’ve wanted to find a way to share my love for this specific video game franchise. There aren’t too many games out there that can combine action/ adventure with history and treasure hunting, all while delivering a coherent and compelling fun story. Uncharted delivered this with all five games. I’ve been religiously playing uncharted since 2012 and even though it’s nearly 20 years old and the newest game is almost 10, my hope is to introduce it to another fan of video games and the the paranormal

  • 95. Remastered: Vikings In America

    01:44:47
As part of our unofficial strange stone structures in New England series, I've decided ti reedit and remaster one of my favorite episodes, episode 9, Vikings in America. Officially, we know vikings landed in Newfoundland around 1000 AD but the history books say they didn't stay long and this has never sat well with me. We know vikings were great explorers, always looking to the horizon for something new. so I find it hard to believe they found a vast new world and choose to only stay a few years and there seems to be countless pieces of evidence supporting the fact that L'Anse aux Meadows was only the first stop in this new world. If you enjoyed this episode please join out Almost canon +. We'll be dropping a viking centric bonus episode beginning of next week, that looks at more of these artifact left behind by the vikings as they traversed the wilds of the north east.

  • 93. She Came From The Closet

    01:44:03
This we we talk with Heidi who grew up in what could possibly be New England's most haunted city Lowell, Mass. The fires of Industry burned more than oil and coal in Lowell as the Industrial Revolution kicked off and those fires very well could have produced the first entity our guest ran into at a very young age. the figure of a charred body would sit next to Heidi's bed at night and some time hit and beast her resulting in a trip to the hospital. but it didn't stop there! Heidi would end up meeting another dark entity several years later in a house that was rumored to once be a church. If your looking for scares then you won't want to miss this incredibly frightful episode of Almost Canon.
  • 92. The Miner's House And Other Listener Stories

    56:28
This week we talk with Vance, who had rented a house with his wife in Northern Cambria, Pennsylvania. Every seemed to be going great but it didn't take long for them to notice something wasn't right. Things would quickly escalate and the couple who thought they had found great deal on a beautiful little home would up and leave one morning after a frightening revelation. But before we talk with Vance Nick goes over a handful of recent listener stories that had been sent in. This may be one of the creepiest episodes of Almost Canon yet!
  • 91. New England Stone Structures with My Family Thinks I'm Crazy

    01:35:30
This week we talk with Mark from My Family Thinks Im Crazy podcast. As we're both from New England, we figured talking about a New England mystery would be best.Stone walls are often over looked. There are countless miles of them and their literary everywhere you look here in New England. But were they really been built by farmers in the 1800's and what about all the stone chambers, who built those? if not farmers then who? Was it Vikings? Maybe the Celts or Phoenicians? Or what about giants or an ancient unknown race of indigenous peoples? These are all questions we consider on this weeks episode of Almost canon podcast!
