In this two part story, my friend Jack, filmmaker and college film professor, shares his experience of being unexpectedly asked to direct the live broadcast of an event featuring the Dalai Lama, with a twist—the event is put on by the infamous NXIVM cult (yes, THAT one). On top of that, Jack finds himself in a trailer filled with millions of dollars' worth of equipment and no technical director. Back in the 90s, I didn't understand the hype around Pokemon. I just never got into it for whatever reason. But in 2016, while I was traveling in Europe, I saw clusters of people on their phones, all playing Pokemon GO. I was curious, so I downloaded the game and asked some friendly kids to show me how to play.
