How should we feel about that as music fans? Should we dismiss it as once again the instant and ugly nature of the modern world and it's short attention span or simply crack a wry smile and enjoy it for what it is! • 244. AI has to learn from somewhere right? but where.....

    34:07||Season 1, Ep. 244
    STOP THIEF!!! Across the world copyright law is quietly changing or being changed, why? AI models have to learn from somewhere and be trained on existing art. Yet recognising this or compensating artists is a pain in the proverbials for governments who want investment in their countries and economies, so copyright laws are being challenged and changed. A group of artists released a silent album last week in protest, calling it theft!! I discuss this, how artists have very little ability to stand in the way of digital progress. Beginning however with my own trials and tribulations involved in trying to prove to a bot that I am who I am and I own the things I made back before the internet!!There may be trouble ahead!Primordial cds/lps available from https://www.metalblade.com/primordial/http://www.patreon.com/AlanAverillMy Youtube channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@AlanAverillNemtheangahead over there and subscribePrimordial on Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/0BZr6WHaejNA63uhZZZZek?si=yFFV8ypSSDOESUX62_0TzQsponsored by Metal Blade recordshttps://metalblade.indiemerch.com/promo code AA 2024 for 10% off your order ships worldwideFor info on my work as a booking agent go to:https://www.facebook.com/DragonProductionsOfficialor emailalan@dragon-productions.comI made some very brutal old school death metal right hereVERMINOUS SERPENThttps://open.spotify.com/artist/54Wpl9JD0Zn4rhpBvrN2Oa?si=zOjIulHXS5y9lW1YHMhgTACheck out my other doom bandDREAD SOVEREIGNhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/60HY4pl0nbOrZA6u2QnqDN?si=sxQ5_1htR6G3WIvy1I_wXAand take a listen to some old school electro goth I madeAPRILMENhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/7GzLO1YJClmN5TvV4A37MJ?si=cRXSk24lQKWSqJG-B8KbWQ

  • 242. Why was there so much violence at gigs in the old days?

    30:23||Season 1, Ep. 242
    A few weeks ago I posted on my Instagram (nemtheanga_primordial) some old ticket stubs from the mid 80s to the early 90s and sure enough the violence that surrounded those shows got mentioned in the comments, so I thought I'd revisit that, the reasons why it was happening, a stabbing at a punk gig in 1977 which cast a shadow over gigs in the State for years and I ask, was it just a British isles and Irish thing? if so, why? How it stopped, why gigs now are often just corporate and empty feeling and whisper it....those were the great days, the classic gigs and we wouldn't have it any other way....My Youtube channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@AlanAverillNemtheangahead over there and subscribePrimordial on Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/0BZr6WHaejNA63uhZZZZek?si=yFFV8ypSSDOESUX62_0TzQsponsored by Metal Blade records https://metalblade.indiemerch.com/promo code AA 2024 for 10% off your order ships worldwideFor info on my work as a booking agent go to: https://www.facebook.com/DragonProductionsOfficialI made some very brutal old school death metal right hereVERMINOUS SERPENThttps://open.spotify.com/artist/54Wpl9JD0Zn4rhpBvrN2Oa?si=zOjIulHXS5y9lW1YHMhgTACheck out my other doom bandDREAD SOVEREIGNhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/60HY4pl0nbOrZA6u2QnqDN?si=sxQ5_1htR6G3WIvy1I_wXAand take a listen to some old school electro goth I madeAPRILMENhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/7GzLO1YJClmN5TvV4A37MJ?si=cRXSk24lQKWSqJG-B8KbWQ

  • 240. Is the album now just a passion project?

    40:49||Season 1, Ep. 240
    In today's episode I discuss the idea that the album itself, one of the most defining things of modern culture is becoming a passion project, how deep cuts can just get lost completely and how the streaming format encourages endless singles. How this affects the vision of artists and how with touring becoming so expensive bands revert to greatest hits sets for festivals. Is making a full length right now actually detrimental to the grim business of driving numbers. 39:12||Season 1, Ep. 239
