Bitches Get Stuff Done

Hi! It's our final ep before our mid-year break! This week, we're fangirling over Ziwe, the comedian you need to be following, who uses comedy to discuss racism, baiting her (usually white and unsuspecting) guests in a way that’s both essential and uncomfortable to watch. Then, it's onto a brief chat about how the Melbourne woman in quarantine and the security guard, who are rumoured to be to blame for another wave of COVID, managed to coordinate their bous session, before it’s over to billionaires. Why during an economic crisis and global pandemic are the rich getting much, much richer? And why are they of all people weighing in on government subsidies for those who need it? We discuss the concept of wealth hoarding, why it’s often hard to relate to people who were born into different financial circumstances, and why society values someone’s success through the contents of their bank account instead of the good they do in the world. Plus, after Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was called a ‘fucking bitch’ by a fellow congressman at her place of work, she delivered a brilliant speech, but was quickly torn down by media outlets for using the opportunity(?!) as a ‘brand building’ exercise: Why is a woman standing up for herself at work seen as shady? Why is this guy not fired already? And have we, or should we want to, reclaim the word ‘bitch’?

**We're taking a two week mid-year break now! Back on 19th August. Love you!**
