Lily Geiger on Creating Figlia, Navigating Loss, Working with Friends and Finding Identity Beyond Your Brand

This week's episode is with someone who I would 10000% put in the bucket of a founder who is also an artist. Someone who has and is actively alchemizing her pain and grief into both her purpose and her brand while creating beauty and connection in all that she does. We have Lily Geiger on the show today who is the founder of Figlia - an inclusive non-alcoholic aperitivo alternative that was born out of her desire to serve both humans who actively struggle with alcohol addiction by creating a non-alc product that did not taste like alcoholic beverages that we know as well as humans who are simply not wanting to drink as much but want to have a delicious alternative that feels special to drink out or at home. I fall in that second camp of people who simply feel better drinking way less and am so grateful for brands like Figlia that are meeting us where we're at, creating products we are proud to drink/be seen with, and just make it cool and acceptable to choose products that are better for you.

In this episode we get into Lily's story living with a parent who struggled and lost his battle with alcohol addiction - what that's taught her, the grieving process, leaning on family, alchemizing pain into purpose and now this product, how it's changed her outlook on life and why she created Figlia. We also get into making sure we have a strong sense of our identity outside of the brands we are building and how that separation has helped keep her grounded and on path.

From a branding/launching perspective we're getting into who exactly she's serving, how she bootstrapped to start and has built this business with her best friends, what marketing channels have worked, where she comes alive the most and of course - her process of remembering and returning to her child-like Self.

  • Boxing as a Tool to Physically Process Rage with Alberto Ortiz of Work Train Fight

    59:25|
This week's episode is all about the importance of acknowledging, confronting, processing and moving rage and/or anger through and out of the body. And we're specifically talking about doing this through the tool of boxing. I brought my boxing trainer on, Alberto Ortiz, who is the founder of Work Train Fight - a boxing gym in soho in New York where I have boxed with him for 10 years - to talk about what boxing is actually doing on a deeper level and how it's such a potent tool when it comes to processing tougher emotions, liberating yourself and becoming more and more aligned, integrated and embodied. In this episode we're talking about how boxing saves lives, why confronting your darker tougher emotions and parts of ourselves is so important and liberating, the importance of letting yourself be seen and using your voice, and why keeping you fighting spirit alive. For my New York listeners, Alberto let me know he is offering Active Ingredient listeners a complimentary 1:1 boxing session at his gym which is truly life changing. I simply cannot recommend it enough! Enjoy <3 Link to Work Train Fight: @worktrainfightLink to Alberto Ortiz: @aortiz1111Link to my IG: @sophieiweillLink to Active Ingredient's IG: @activeingredient

  • Protecting Creativity, Visibility Fears & Building With Integrity With Tonya Papanikolov

    53:51|
I'm joined by Tonya Papanikolov, founder of Rainbo, for a conversation on visibility, creativity, slowing down, building with integrity, and learning to trust yourself through every season of growth. We talk about the fear of being seen, what happens when life calls you inward, the tension between freedom and responsibility, feminine vs. masculine energy in business, aging, beauty, Human Design, and how to know when to stay the course vs. pivot. This felt less like an interview and more like two projectors having a very honest conversation about what it means to build a life and business that actually feels true.Active Ingredient listeners can get 15% off Rainbo with code ACTIVE.
