You must be willing to fail spectacularly in order to succeed with my business mindset coach Ben Easter

After a severe head injury that compromised the parts of the brain responsible for processing language and social interactions, Ben Easter found himself in a tough spot. Like every other human, he strived for connection and belonging, which the consequences of his accident were clearly making more difficult.

Ben devoted his entire being to achieve a fast recovery, and within 6 months, he was already on his feet and, (according to him), fully recovered. But he wasn't; he still had issues processing language, understanding what people would say to him, and the worst part of it, he wasn't aware of these issues; his grandma pointed them out to him. The following months were dark for Ben; he contemplated suicide, he felt isolated, broken, and unworthy.

His studying abilities weren't affected, though, so he started reading about neuroplasticity and learning how to stimulate the brain to "fix itself," he studied and learned about social dynamics. Ben realized social skills were precisely that, skills, and with practice, he would eventually redevelop them, which he did.

Ben Easter, is a Transformational Life Coach and the CEO and Head Coach of Lucid Shift Coaching. He has two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Florida State University. He also has a Master of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese Herbology from Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

In this episode, we had a fantastic conversation about connection, the need for being noticed, and the importance of belonging. Ben shared his transformational journey, from being a bully to a Relationship Coach. We delve into how crucial it is to face our fears, be comfortable with failure, trust ourselves, and why it is impossible to find peace until we double down our efforts on what we love and think of financial success as a consequence of following our passions.

Some Questions I Ask:

What was Ben Easter like as a kid? (5:53)

I can relate to that feeling of wanting to be seen. Where do you think that stems from for you? (10:38)

I would like to hear about your accident and what happened with your head (15:46)

You said the unlock is finding something that you can get paid for the skills you already have. That doesn't mean the job has to pay you 6, 7, 8 figures. What do you mean by that? (30:58)

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

About Ben's longing for attention and connection since he was a kid (6:28)

Ben's first big breakthrough about who he was and who he wanted to be (9:03)

Ben's second awakening and the start of an entirely new journey (15:51)

Facing our fears. The escalator and the coffee exercise (23:36)

Spend time in reflection before you craft a goal (35:03)

About how to master our insides (43:43)

  • Marketing a purpose-driven business without social media with Harry Doull of Keap Candles

    01:02:17|
If you have been trying to figure out how to build and market your business in alignment and struggle with doing that on social media, this episode is for you. This week, I'm joined by Harry Doull, the founder of Keap Candles, which is a NY-based Benefit Corporation started in 2015 and was inspired by a philosophical question: In an always-on world, how can we reconnect with ourselves and restore our balance with nature? Through artistry and regenerative practices, Keap’s candles have evolved to create what they couldn't find anywhere else: all-natural luxury candles that don't sacrifice scent quality or performance. His biggest message to the active ingredient community is this: if you're finding a sense of internal misalignment with social media in business and or in your personal life, it is possible to operate without it (as we have been for the past 5 years) — and in fact grow a stronger, more resilient business in the process. In this episode we are getting into building and marketing in alignment, alternative ways to connect and grow your community in a nourishing way, the power of candles and the element of fire and committing to your own inner vision even if it clashes with the norm. Keap is offering all Active ingredient listeners 10% off your first order when you use code FINDYOURWHY at checkout - my favorite scents are Wood Cabin and Wild Figs.*GIVEAWAY* We will also be gifting a candle to 1 active ingredient listener who rates and reviews the show on apple and spotify - all you have to do is submit your review and send a screenshot to my personal IG and you enter to win! I'm currently burning my candle and it really is a goodie. Time Stamps:07:14 - The decision to get off of social media entirely17:35 - Building offline connections with your community and the impact on the business24:16 - The future of social media and alternative platforms emerging30:07 - The bigger role candles play in building connection 40:38 - listening and acting on inner guidance and long-term vision in business55:27 - natural candle making and what makes Keap different Links: To connect with me: @sophieiweillTo check out Active Ingredient clips: @activeingredientNude Nation Piano Piano CeramicsKeap Candles
