    This time, we're pleased to welcome our guest, Commodore Keith Winstanley, MBE, and he’s joining us to discuss coffee, beekeeping, and not least, to give us anecdotes from his incredible career.Commodore Keith spent 33 years in the Royal Navy serving all around the world both afloat and ashore including active service against Iraq, during the Kosovo War and during the fighting in Bosnia when he was attached to the British Army. He commanded four warships: a minesweeper, two destroyers, and an amphibious command ship, one of the biggest ships in the Navy. For two years he commanded all Royal Navy ships, aircraft and personel in the Middle East and Indian Ocean.Concurrently he was the Deputy Commander of all Allied Navies operating in the same area. More recently he served on the Board of one of the UK's major Trust Ports. He is currently a maritime and defence advisor to two UK based companies.Keith was a member of the UNICEF team in the “Clipper Round The World” yacht race which finished in 2022, racing across the South Atlantic, Southern Ocean, North Pacific and North Atlantic. He is currently part of a team helping sail a 62ft yacht around the world, a circumnavigation due to complete next year.Questions on this… relationship to travel, to sea-going, challenges, hairy moments, etc.In his spare time, he keeps bees (currently about 750,000), rings church bells, is a guest speaker on ocean cruise ships, is Vice Chair of the Governing body of Walton Hall Academy and is a member of Eccleshall Community Amateur Dramatics. He has been a member of the Eccleshall Community Cinema Committee since shortly after it was first formed and has been Chair since 2017.
