A Dose of History

Hosted by two newly qualified doctors, we explore the history of medicine and its significance through different lenses. Episodes will include interviews with later generations of doctors, scientists and anthropologists looking at the most notable advancements across the ages. We also have our shorter 'microdose' episodes bringing you audio essays on a variety of topics, such as the origins of medicines, notable figures in medicine and famous medical cases.

Isobel Platt

A Foundation Doctor working in London with interests in Neurology and Medical History. I trained at University College London Medical School. Since starting working I became interested in expanding my knowledge regarding the history of our current practices and the medical events of the past. I am particularly interested in the role of botany in the development of pharmaceuticals and the influence of medicine in literature.

Anush Shashidhara

I am currently an academic foundation doctor in Liverpool, having spent 6 years training at University College London Medical School. I have a keen interest in medical history, medical education and plans on pursuing a career in neurology. I enjoy reading and sports such as cricket and badminton in his free time. In this podcast series, I focus on significant milestones in medicine and how they impact our practice and the patient experience today.
