Go Plug Yourself 55: Holly Gauthier-Frankel (aka Miss Sugarpuss)

The incomparable  Holly Gauthier-Frankel joins Walter and I for a very civilized discussion that includes theatrical insights and then things take a rapid downward spiral (mostly my fault) when we talk about Houston rapper Fly Young Red's song “Throw That Boy Pussy”. I apologize for that in advance. Holly was an absolute delight, talking about alter-ego burlesque star Miss Sugarpuss and also her voice acting career that includes a recurring character on Arthur for the past 18 (!) years. Listen now!

Here's Holly's Official Website.
Here's the Miss Sugarpuss Twitter @misssugarpuss

As always,  a big thank you to the providers of our theme song: Aural Turpitude!

Also, I was trying to find clips of Holly voicing Fern Walters on Arthur and I came across this, too crazy not to share. Enjoy! “(Sparta Duel) Fern Walters Has A Daniel Creations Remix

  • GPYS 335: Troy Story 40

    01:05:46|
Ever since Troy Stark came back to Montreal a few years ago he’s been an important part of the Montreal comedy scene. Not only performing, but also producing some of the best local comedy events this city has to offer. So when the opportunity came up to have some of Montreal’s funniest folks gather together and celebrate Troy turning 40 on Go Plug Yourself we had to take it. Erik Intrevado, Daniel Carin and Sarah Warren join Chris Venditto, Walter J. Lyng and I to celebrate all things Troy Stark. He’s read 10 books this year already! What ensues is obviously something akin to our annual Shit Shows but hey, isn’t that part of the fun? We’ve got stories of concealed weapons, alcohol on planes, smuggling drugs across state lines and getting tossed into the back of a cop car because someone was playing with a toy gun while wearing a trench coat in the 1990s. If this is our last episode it’s because we’re all now in jail. Also I was going to use AI to generate an episode image of Troy as a Toy Story character but then Mike Carrozza would yell at me. So you get this instead:Credit Where Credit is DueAs always, a big thank you to the providers of our theme song: Leighland Beckman and Aural Turpitude!Chris Venditto is another funny person in Montreal who you can see all over the place and if you don’t want to miss him take the stage you should follow him on all the socials. • GPYS 334: Oren Shbiro

    01:13:09|
The Montreal arts & entertainment podcast that asks Montreal comedian Oren Shbiro: “What was the last time you got lost?” That question was asked of course by our previous guest Steve Leckman from Programmes Coyote on our last episode. This week, Chris Venditto and I welcome Oren Shbiro to the show. Oren joined us at the back of Grumpy’s to talk about connecting with audiences in Montreal and online, the rush of comedy and figuring out the tempo of a headlining set of comedy. Speaking of headlining: Oren’s got his first ever headlining set at the Comedy Nest coming up on April 26th presented by On Da Clock so you should probably buy tickets for that here.Oren is one of Montreal’s best working comedians and honestly if you take away one thing from this podcast it’s that you should probably go out and see more local comedy. Oh hey – did we mention that our own Chris Venditto will be performing a headlining showcase at The Comedy Nest on May 31st as well? Yeah, you should go to that too.Follow @orenshbiro on Instagram or check out OrenIsFunny.com for more info about Oren’s upcoming shows.Credit Where Credit is DueAs always, a big thank you to the providers of our theme song: Leighland Beckman and Aural Turpitude!Chris Venditto is another funny person in Montreal who you can see all over the place and if you don’t want to miss him take the stage you should follow him on all the socials. • Go Plug Yourself 333: Steve Leckman (Programmes Coyote / Coyote Program)

    01:12:00|
The Montreal podcast Go Plug Yourself asks Steve Leckman from Programmes Coyote: You have to diffuse a bomb – do you choose to ask the audience, go 50/50 or phone a friend? That question was asked by Lucie Gee and Dan Carin promoting Le Mini Grand Yes And on our last episode.Steve Leckman is the Director of Programmes Coyote / Coyote Programs. Coyote Programs offer kids and teens the chance to get out in nature, have an adventure and take risks (while still supervised by skilled and knowledgeable grownup guides). They offer after school programs, daycamps, mentoring and getaway camping trips where kids experience screen free time in nature and foster creativity, resilience and to quote one of the kids “skills they might need in the zombie apocalypse.” If this sounds amazing (because it is), Coyote Programs is gearing up for their summer registration period. Reach out to Steve and team here.Steve joined Chris Venditto and I to talk about these programs, how important they are in 2026 to counter the rise of perpetual screen time and toxic masculinity and how kids are just so freaking ready to get outside and have an adventure.Early in the episode we talk about Steve’s uncanny ability to mimic animal gaits. Do yourself a favour and watch this video for the full demonstration of what we’re talking about. This is a little off the beaten path (ha ha!) for us but I promise it’s a good time, enjoy the show!Credit Where Credit is DueAs always, a big thank you to the providers of our theme song: Leighland Beckman and Aural Turpitude!Chris Venditto is another funny person in Montreal who you can see all over the place and if you don’t want to miss him take the stage you should follow him on all the socials.
