The Bridge Brothers Presents...
It's the FPL Pod Vs Tok End of Season Awards!
Matt and Nick return to host the first ever FPL Pod VS Tok Awards. Who will win the coveted Darren Huckerby trophy for surprise player of the season, alongside the many other honours bestowed upon the Premier League players who have featured in our FPL teams this campaign? And who will take away the less appealing title of "flop of the season"? Listen in to find out.
The lads also reflect on what they have learnt over the 24/25 season, especially when it comes to selecting their respective teams based on the advice of content creators from podcast and TikTok platforms respectively. Matt also uses this discussion to celebrate the various opportunities that he, Nick and Dad have had to watch football this season, whether that is at the Mayfield, the Cherry Red, the Imperial, King's Meadow, Stamford Bridge or indeed Wembley Stadium, which we visited in two consecutive weekends.
With Matt and Nick not attending a game recently, we give the floor to Sea of Days with extended clips of Darkness and Where Do I Begin? Our awards show music also comes from Anastasia Chubarova.
The podcast opens with a discussion about Chelsea, Tottenham and Paris Saint Germain's success in Europe, as well as concerns over Crystal Palace's appearance in next seasons's Europa League. We close with a tribute to the Premier League legend that is referee Uriah Rennie who sadly passed away recently at the age of 65.
We may not be putting out podcasts quite as regularly over the summer, but we will be keeping up on the socials and it would be amazing to interact with you via the following platforms.

30. The Brothers [Correctly] Predict Another Chelsea Capitulation at Brighton
33:56||Season 1, Ep. 30Recorded on Monday, Matt and Nick's assessment about the performance of their Chelsea assets in FPL was massively tempered by the fact that they felt that their beloved club would be soundly defeated at the Amex by Brighton and Hove Albion. Nick referred to it, in advance we should say, as a "blood bath at Brighton."With us releasing this on Thursday, ahead of the FPL deadline, this all seems pretty accurate with Chelsea offering up one of their worst performances in memory which was swiftly following by the sacking of the manager Liam Rosenior. But, anyway, back to FPL. Alongside discussing why it is foolish to look at Chelsea players in the game, (even though we still do for some reason), the lads review their double game week performances so far as well as what players Matt should look at when it comes to the big blank in game week 34.The Brothers also prepare their FWSL teams for the return of the Women's Super League and with fixtures moving and doubles and even trebles being on the cards, there's a lot to keep on top of as we head into the last few games of the season. Game deadlines and codes are as follows...FPL: Game week 34: Friday the 24th of April at 18:30. 28. Double FA Cup Glory, But Premier League Problems Persist for Chelsea
33:12||Season 1, Ep. 28Matt and Nick start the episode with chat about AFC Croydon and AFC Wimbledon's run of results as well as Chelsea's under 21s progressing in the Premier League 2 competition, anything is better than talking about the senior men's squad right now. With that in mind, the lads start by recapping their recent visit to Kings Meadow to see Chelsea Women defeat a resilient Tottenham 2-1 in the quarter final of the FA Cup. Alongside securing Chelsea's progress into the semis, the game not going to extra time meant that Nick could get his shopping at a local Korean super-market!Clips in this episode are all from this day out and capture our experiences of the day. With a degree of resignation, the chaps went on to talk about Chelsea's 7-0 mauling of Port Vale, (Rosenior would make a good League One manager), to their latest 3-0 defeat in the Premier League, this time at the hands of Manchester City.Like Chelsea men, Matt was also not on top form, as he was suffering a cold, but hopefully normal service will be resumed in time for next week.If you like to join the conversation, you can so do via the following ways...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue SkyX (mainly known as Twitter)Thanks as ever to Shane speed, aka Sea of Days, for his music for the podcast.Bye for now!Matt and Nick. The Bridge Brothers would also like to take this opportunity to state that all material in this podcast is the property of Matt and Nick Homer and we do not authorise the use of our show to train or be used in anyway by AI.
29. A Wildcard is For Life...
35:00||Season 1, Ep. 29Matt and Nick return for FPL Bridge Brothers episode 29 and the conversation focuses on GW 32 wildcard choices as well as chip usage for double game week 33 and the blank in 34.With the Bridge Brothers continuing to compete against each other the question remains, will Matt's double game week obsession come good, or will Nick's free hit strategy prove to be a genius move? The chaps sign-post to more WSL chat in future game weeks, but the Bundesliga side FC Union Berlin's appointment of Marie-Louise Eta gets the lads talking about how good the Chelsea men's squad would be if Sonia Bompastor or the managerial legend that is Emma Hayes took charge.Game deadlines and codes are as follows...FPL: Game week 32: Saturday the 18th of April at 11:00. BN59SGFWSL, Game Week 19: Sunday the 26 of April at 11:00 FKWAXXYou can also join the conversation via any, or all, of the following platforms...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue SkyX (mainly known as Twitter)The song used in this podcast is Darkness by the always amazing Sea of Days.See you soon!Matt and Nick.
27. Draw at the Den, Paris Analysis and Toffees Trouble
39:16||Season 1, Ep. 27Despite decent good results for our teams beyond the bridge, it's been another difficult week for Chelsea, this time for our men and women's sides. The Bridge Brothers start with an analysis of Chelsea's 1-1 draw against London City Lionesses in the WSL. The blues' UCL ambitions have been dented at the Den by LCL.We then move from Nikita Parris to Paris Saint Germain with the French Champions taking another opportunity to thrash Chelsea in the men's Champions League. It didn't get any better for Liam Rosenior's charges with another 3-0 humiliation a few days later, this time at the hands of Everton. This prompts discussion of the joint BlueCo Out protests from Chelsea and Strasbourg fans this coming April, (the 18th to be precise), and Nick's frustration at Liam Rosenior who he does not think is good enough to be Chelsea manager. In an effort to cheer ourselves up, there is Alan Shearer chat alongside a coupe of other tangents along the way.The lads also finish the podcast by paying tribute to former Chelsea goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro, who sadly passed away at the age of 67.If you like to join the conversation, you can so do via the following ways...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue SkyX (mainly known as Twitter)Thanks as ever to Shane speed, aka Sea of Days, for his music for the podcast.By for now!Matt and Nick.
29. An FPL Hiatus and a Big Week for FWSL!
31:14||Season 1, Ep. 29The lads reflect on their game week 31 performances and start making plans ahead of the game week 32, despite the international break and FA Cup fixtures taking place ahead of then. With the Premier League not back until April 10th, it's all about the WSL with the lads sharing their plans for Aerial Fantasy as Matt tries to consolidate his lead in the Bridge Brothers league and Nick looking to cause an upset with his own team finding form.Matt and Nick will also be cheering on the Chelsea Women's side in person for the FA Cup game against Tottenham and we'll feature clips of that game in a forthcoming show.Game deadlines and codes are as follows...FPL: Game week 32: Friday the 10th of April at 18:30. 26. League Cup Joy, Paris Pain and Magpies Sorrow
35:00||Season 1, Ep. 26Matt and Nick tore up the script, at least partially this week, to discuss the Premier League punishment meted out to Chelsea FC. They talk the listeners through the ruling and give their take on it.Things aren't much better on the pitch for the Chelsea senior men's side as the lads talk about the Blues' 5-2 defeat away to Paris Saint Germain, (this was recorded before the 3-0 humbling at Stamford Bridge), and the home defeat to Newcastle.Thank goodness for Chelsea Women, Sonia Bompastor's team triumphed 2-0 over Marc Skinner's Manchester United. It is fair to say that Nick was not best pleased with the Red Devil's Manager's comments after the match. The Brothers finish the show by paying respects to the families of Amy Carr and Amelia Aplin, who were both goalkeepers. Amy Carr, who played for Chelsea, Arsenal, Reading and England at youth level, died at 35 after a battle with a brain tumour. Amelia played for Oxford and died after collapsing during a Junior Premier League game for Oxford United. We also send our condolences to former Blue Thiago Silva, who sadly lost his mother Angela Maria last week.If you like to join the conversation, you can so do via the following ways...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue SkyX (mainly known as Twitter)Thanks as ever to Shane speed, aka Sea of Days, for his music for the podcast.By for now!Matt and Nick.
28. Tactics, Transfers and Staying The Right Side of Weird...
32:32||Season 1, Ep. 28In episode 28, The Bridge Brothers take stock of contrasting FPL fortunes. Matt's team, albeit slowly down, is still riding a tide of green arrows, whilst Nick is finding a way to kick start his season. Despite Matt's good form, he does have Manchester City and Arsenal players that he needs to bench for their blank in game week 31. However, he has since realised that, instead of selling Marc Guéhi like he says on the pod, he can bench all these players if he choses to.The elder of the sibling's luck seems to be in as, despite missing the deadline to make his changes, he still got a good score, mainly courtesy of Tottenham's Signe Gauspet coming off the bench to claim 17 points. With the lads in attendance at King's Meadow for Chelsea's game against Spurs, Matt does declare that he would like to say thanks to Gauspet for saving his game week despite his deadline incompetence, but wonders if this would see him stray beyond the right side of weird!Nick also had some success by playing the wall chip which means there is still a chance he could sail up The Bridge Brothers WSL league. Game deadlines and codes are as follows...FPL: Game week 31: Friday the 20th of March at 18:30. BN59SGFWSL, Game Week 18: Saturday the 21st of March at 11:30 FKWAXXYou can also join the conversation via any, or all, of the following platforms...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue SkyX (mainly known as Twitter)The song used in this podcast is Darkness by the always amazing Sea of Days.See you soon!Matt and Nick.
27. Blank Game Weeks and an Aerial WSL Lament
40:14||Season 1, Ep. 27Matt is riding on the crest of a green arrow wave as the Bridge Brothers sail into episode 27. The question is whether he can keep the good momentum going with blank game weeks on the horizon. A good chip strategy will be needed. When it comes to the young of the two siblings, Nick's charges need to re-discover their form if they want to finish strongly and ensure that the younger of the siblings doesn't decide to retire from the game completely next season.Alongside sharing their FPL experiences and advice, Matt and Nick also turn their attention to the Women's game with the WSL returning this weekend. It is a bittersweet feeling with the news that the Aerial Fantasy game will be discontinued after this season. Reflecting on this story, the Brothers reflect on how integral the game has been when it comes to improving their WSL knowledge as well as how invaluable it is for women's football in the UK too.The chaps are hoping that someone can sweep in and save the much loved Aerial WSL, but if indeed this is the last season we play it, game weeks and codes for the upcoming fixtures are included below...FWSL, Game Week 17: Sunday the 15th of March at 11:00 (Mother’s Day). FKWAXXFPL: Game week 30: Friday the 14th of March at 13:30. 25. Victory over Villains and an FA Cup Wrexit!
33:27||Season 1, Ep. 25With a 4-1 win over Aston Villa and a 2-4 victory over Wrexham, it's dreamland for The Bridge Brothers as the Chelsea men head to Paris. As you'll find in next week's show, those dreams were ended at the Parc des Princes, but we'll stay upbeat for now. With Chelsea looking better in the Premier League, the chat includes references to "new R9 elect" Jõao Pedro, goalkeeper dilemmas, squad selection, controversial centre circle huddles and, of course, VAR. The Video Assistant Referee was actually on the Blues' side for the two games covered this week. When it comes to Wrexham, Nick takes a dim view of the BBC's Rob and Ryan love-in and what the financial model of the Red Dragons means for the English football pyramid. As a big Welcome to Wrexham fan, Matt does his best to air a different point of view.If you like to join the conversation, you can so do via the following ways...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue SkyX (mainly known as Twitter)Thanks as ever to Shane speed, aka Sea of Days, for his music for the podcast. Please also check out the latest episode of Matt's other podcast, Homer's Podyssey: Conversations on Purpose, where he speaks to the theatre maker, producer, beatboxer and writer, Mr Conrad Murray.Á Bientôt!Matt and Nick.
