Ep. 23: Is Mars of Destruction the worst Anime OVA in history? And we pitch each other Space Dandy and Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest!
Welcome back to the Weebology Podcast everyone, hope you all are doing well! This week we tackle another of installment of our worst of weeb segments with the Mars of Destruction OVA. This is the single worst rated piece of content on My Anime List which should give y’all an idea of how amazing it is... Mars of Destruction was an OVA from 2005 originally made to help sell a video game of the same name. We are confident if the game is anything the show it was a complete stinker!
In the second part of the episode we had another session of our much loved Pitch or Ditch segment. Ethan pitch the show Arifureta: Commonplace to World's Strongest and Ricky Pitch Space Dandy.
Arifureta was originally published as a web novel in 2015 by Ryo Shirakome and later adapted into a light novel series. This isekai show follows Hajime Nagumo and his class as they are transported to another world to help protect a nation against monsters and demons. The show aired during the Summer 2019 season of Anime.
Space Dandy is a 2014 entry from Bones Studio during the Winter 2014 season of Anime. This series was created by Masafumi Harada and follows laissez-faire alien hunter Dandy as he searches the galaxy for new alien species to have registered and make bank! This series is a science fiction comedy, imagine Cowboy Bebop without the grundgy aesthetic and throw it into a paper shredder with a box of neon crayons.
