Ep. 26: We watched Space Dandy and Arifureta, Pitch or Ditch Redux
This week we revisit our tried and true series Pitch or Ditch. We made this a full episode of the reviews for Space Dandy and Arifureta: From Commonplace to World'd Strongest. These series are very different genres and styles and provide y'all two vastly different reviews and options of shows to watch.
Arifureta was originally published as a web novel in 2015 by Ryo Shirakome and later adapted into a light novel series. This isekai show follows Hajime Nagumo and his class as they are transported to another world to help protect a nation against monsters and demons. The show aired during the Summer 2019 season of Anime. The genre is listed as Fantasy, Harem but I would personally add Ecchi to this.
Space Dandy is a 2014 entry from Bones Studio during the Winter 2014 season of Anime. This series was created by Masafumi Harada and follows laissez-faire alien hunter Dandy as he searches the galaxy for new alien species to have registered and make bank! This series is a science fiction comedy, imagine Cowboy Bebop without the grundgy aesthetic and throw it into a paper shredder with a box of neon crayons. The genre is listed as comedy, science fiction, space opera. If anyone can figure out how space opera relates at all to the show please let us know.
We may have had more fun talking about the shows than we did watching them, but we had a BLAST talking crap about these shows.
