    This is a brief introduction to the hosts. John Fleming and Matt Taylor share a little about their background, how they discovered Transactional Analysis and their mission to share TA with a broader audience. "Transactional analysis (TA) is a widely recognised form of modern psychology, and one of the most accessible theories of psychology at that. In simple terms, TA is designed to promote personal growth and change. It is considered a fundamental therapy for well-being and for helping individuals to reach their full potential in all aspects of life." Founded by Eric Berne in the late 1950s, TA therapy is based on the theory that each person has three ego-states: parent, adult and child. These are used along with other key transactional analysis concepts, tools and models to analyse how individuals communicate and to identify what interaction is needed for a better outcome. Throughout therapy, the TA therapist will work directly on problem-solving behaviours, whilst helping clients to develop day-to-day tools for finding constructive, creative solutions. The ultimate goal is to ensure clients regain absolute autonomy over their lives. Rosemary notes that these are all fields that emphasise presence and emergence, culture and context, and working in the here and how with the Adult ego state. The focus in this episode is on the field of TA Counselling which she notes is little known in the UK. This was recorded just before the global coronavirus pandemic when hairdressers were prolific, this will become clear as you listen!! Rosemary has since suggested that it may be this field of Counselling that is what is particularly timely for all our well-being.     In this special edition episode, we have changed things up a bit! Rather than having 3 of us in your head, there’s going to be 7 of us!!! We have facilitated a very timely panel discussion on what TA might have to say about the COVID-19 Pandemic. The panel is made up of Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analysts across the four fields of application in TA. We have Anna Chandy (C), Trudi Newton (E), Adrienne Lee (P), Thorsten Geck (O) and Giles Barrow (E) who will be representing the emerging approach of Ecological TA. After a brief introduction, our guest's discussion builds into a rich and inspiring response to the current pandemic. Not wanting to edit any nuggets of wisdom out, we have decided to publish it in its entirety across two separate episodes.
