ISO Peace & Healing w/Celia Boone
Ep022: My Death, Interrupted (Part 2)
•
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. It is also National Recovery Month. In the second of a two-part episode, Celia makes further disclosures about the despair and depression that was gripping her. Recurring thoughts of suicide, this time using the installment plan, were never that far away.
Celia then talks about how she sought out help via the rooms of 12-Step Recovery, as well as weight loss surgery to take on the addictions of alcohol and food. This new path led her to a career as a mental health educator, a nonprofit business manager, and ultimately, to her now being a successful motivational speaker and podcast host.
Celia ends this episode by providing her listeners with resources that will help them or their loved ones who are struggling with mental wellness issues. Among the online resources are: https://www.nami.org/Home (The National Alliance on Mental Illness), and one of her favorites: https://www.verywellmind.com/
