How We Built Whole / Self Liberation and What We Learned (with Violeta Lerma and Stephanie Briggs)

In 2020, I finally launched an idea that I'd been holding onto for years. Whole / Self Liberation was an online school supporting folks to find their unique ways of making a difference. Our first and only season of classes ran from January through May of 2021.

In this episode, I have Violeta Lerma, our Director of Marketing, and Stephanie Briggs, our Community Nurturer, join me to talk about our experiences of creating, amplifying, and implementing the vision and plans that we had for WSL. We talk about our different perspectives, what was challenging for us, what we learned and what it was like creating something that we had never seen before.

  • Choosing Rest / Taking a Sabbath

    18:37
I don't really know how to rest, but I'mma figure it out because on the heels of ending my career as a coach, I've decided to take up a 30 day sabbath at the beginning of the year. • My Favorite Mistakes + Showing Up With Integrity (Debriefing My Coaching Career) with James-Olivia Chu Hillman

    01:13:59
When I decided to end my career as a coach, I also embarked on a process of deciding how I wanted to end. One of those ways was by using my podcast as a tool to reflect, celebrate and acknowledge what these past few years, especially, have been for me. In this episode, I reflect on my career as a whole with my dear friend James-Olivia Chu Hillman! We talk about some of my favorite mistakes in my work, what I learned and how I grew from them, how I've navigated the growth of my brand and business, the moments of grappling with vulnerability, visibility and my vision.
  • Ending with Intention and Grace

    36:21
I don't know about you, but I've experienced and witnessed many messy endings. From breakups to quitting jobs to death, reaching an end point can be full of feels, drama and suffering. As I move through this end to my business, I've noticed how the drama of an ending exponentially decreases when I stop fighting, resisting and avoiding what's true. In surrendering and even befriending my truth, I'm able to make intentional decisions that take care of me as I navigate this moment. I give myself the space and grace to create the kind of ending I desire.
  • I'm Closing Up Shop

    30:07
I made a huge announcement a week or so ago and the response was overwhelming in the best way. If you sent words, thoughts, feels or congrats. my way and I haven't yet responded, thank youuuuu. 🖤 Though I am closing up shop, I do intend to continue creating content (but it may be a lil different in the months to come). So I wanted to use my podcast to share more of my thoughts about my decision, my process and what now for me from here. In this episode I get into all of that, I cry more and I answer some the questions I've received since I shared this decision with y'all.
  • Permission to Change Your Mind or Start Over

    28:14
One of my favorite lessons that I've been learning and practicing over the years is that while every decision has consequences, no decision is final… there is always room for another decision to be made. And that's SO REAL for me right now. In this episode I share some of my own processes around giving myself permission to change my mind, the obstacles that I've got to overcome to do so and I connect the dots between how the way we relate to our decisions can expand our capacity to create change in the world. • Celebration as a Self-Care Practice

    19:19
How often do you celebrate yourself? 5 years ago, my most honest answer to this question would've been simple: every year on my birthday (which is today by the way!). I've come a long way since then... I've actually integrated a practice of celebrating myself into my everyday life. There's no fireworks or balloons, just acknowledgement of how I'm growing and what I'm creating (there is cake involved sometimes though). This is a small, but significant decision I make often that, over time, keeps me going as I show up for the life and world that I desire. Listen in to find out more! 29:12
In this episode, I dive into why its so important to do the work of clarifying and articulating a vision for your life and what you wish to see in the world.
