Reaching out, touching me, touching you with Caroline Reddy

Season 1, Ep. 17

Demine the Ukraine

Legacy of War Foundation

Paging David Harbour, Caroline would like to have word with you.

Caroline and I talk and talk and talk and generally have a merry old time. We discuss finding the people to support us and our goals and how, cliché as it may sound, all things do happen in their own time. We hit on the dreaded fallow times of low creation and ways to cope. She highly recommends hiring John Compton and I concur lol. But in all seriousness it it all comes back to the community you create and support and connecting with yourself. Remember, while the hard times are harding and good times aren't gooding, you are still growing and changing more into yourself. Meet yourself with compassion, yes even that gross bit you don't want anyone to see. You can do more things than you could ever imagine because life will sure as fuck will find a way to make sure they do.

It would be fair to call it the theme of this episode. The snake is forever eating their tail, the least someone could do is give 'em some ketchup. Maybe some A1? Mustard even, c'mon! Maybe that's what all this creative work is. Garnish on Mobius-strip dinnerware. Anyhoo!Caroline reads from her new book, Shake the Atmosphere to Reclaim an Empty Moment , and we get into keeling of the highs and lows that come with reaching your dreams. We talk about letting go of the illusion of power, about poetry communicating first without need for understanding, and the effects of the transformative nature of the creative act on the inner and outer world perspectives. Desire can often be a gateway to inspiration and vision, and managing your intensity is something that is a practice, not a prefect. A poem is something to be made and the poet is the maker.Cheers y'all.Language PoetryCalifornia College of the ArtsRichard DiebenkornT.S. In the second TWK, I read the first two chapters from the 50th Anniversary edition of Slaughterhouse-Five : The Children's Crusade released by Modern Library a division of Penguin Random House LLC. I do alright for the most part. My German accent is very silly and my English one is sorta Irish. I do not regret it though. I had a nice time and that's nothing to sniff at.I of course own nothing and make no profit from this little venture. In fact, I lose money every month on this road to no where, so put that in your pipe and smoke it.Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Museum and Library The Website™️and then there's me...sorry bit of a let down after Kurt but hey...The bird is a red-winged blackbird and I snagged the call here***Third Wednesdays with Kurt pod cover is based on Carin Goldberg's stunning designs, in particular my own cover of Slaughterhouse-Five by Dell.

As cliche as it is, it doesn't make it any less true. Jason O'Toole, is right. We are in a golden age of writing and communicating and yes, loving. There has never been a time like this one and by the grace of what have you, there may never be again. Here's another cliche for you while we're here, you're never alone. Yeah yeah yeah, I know, same to you buddy but hey I didn't make the rules. INARA Cease Fire Today MAP Islamic Relief for Palestine The Ghassan Abu Sittah Children's FundMutual Aid Diabetes Demine the Ukraine Legacy of War FoundationDoctors without Borders UNHCRWhat is art and its worth? What makes something art and not-art? Pretentious and overreaching? Probably! But we're honest about it. Val and I hit lots of gongs and pans and make some good noise I think. We talk about fan creations, the dreaded ai, art as religion, eating lead paint, and maybe a little bit about why creating something real (away from value judgements, the fall of capitalism), is so important to human animals. At least for these two beasts anyway."The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake."
