Wartime vs Peacetime

Season 4, Ep. 1

Before Penn and I went on The Amazing Race, we trained and planned as much as we could. But another thing we did was talk about how we were going to talk to each other. The race can be a lot of pressure and we anticipated tensions to run high. As competitive as we planned to be on the show, our marriage is a priority. Penn and I talk this week about our tips for wartime vs peacetime conversations in a partnership. We also discuss what we do and don’t like when we are under stress… spoiler alert: “shake it off” < “you got this.” (Who is with me?)

About the Holderness Family
: Penn, Kim, Lola, and Penn Charles Holderness create original music, parodies, and Vlogs for YouTube and Facebook to poke fun of themselves and celebrate the absurdity in circumstances most families face in their day to day life. They published "Christmas Jammies" in December 2013 and life hasn't been the same. Since then, their popular parodies, "All About That Baste", "Baby Got Class," and original music "Snow Day" have received national news coverage. Penn, the Dad, took a chance and left his job as a news anchor to join his wife Kim, the Mom, at their video production and digital marketing company, Greenroom Communications, LLC. Lola and Penn Charles are always happy, respectful and eat all of their vegetables (that last sentence is a lie).

Parenting Expectations vs. Reality with Dr. Hope Seidel

Season 4, Ep. 34
In the months leading up to the birth of Lola, Penn was really nervous about becoming a Dad. We didn’t have practice with other kids. We never even had a dog. So we decided to get a fish, as if that would somehow help us prepare to become parents. Needless to say, that fish died within 2 weeks. What a way to start our parenting journey. On today’s podcast, we called our friend, pediatrician and parenting coach, Dr. Hope Seidel, to talk about the expectations vs reality of raising kids. Dr. Seidel said that one of the biggest things she has learned is that a child’s wellness depends on the wellness of their parents.Let that sink in, parents. Your wellness MATTERS. Listen for more advice from Dr. Seidel, and the surprising answer to which role Penn would love to play in Hamilton. Tell us what you like, ask a question, or just say hi. Call 323-364-3929. What The Heck Is Crypto? with Matthew Diemer

Season 4, Ep. 33
Remember the viral clip of the news reporters who found out about the internet for the first time? (Just what is this "information super highway?" And yes, that is a direct quote.) That is how I feel people will look at this podcast in 10 years when digital currency is all we use. Today we discuss just what the heck is cryptocurrency, the blockchain, and NFTs... and boy, do we have questions. Penn and I make silly internet videos for a living, so let's be clear, you should not take any financial advice from us or this podcast. However, if you would like digital currency explained to you like you're a preschooler (in a good way!) our expert guest Matthew Diemer from the podcast, Decrypt Daily, can help. Stick around for some fun segments afterwards too!Tell us what you like, ask a question, or just say hi. Call 323-364-3929. Your support means the world to us. Calling Senators & Making You Smile

Season 4, Ep. 32
We know people come to our channels to laugh and escape, but the things happening in our world right now are not a laughing matter. So we decided to do this week’s podcast episode in two parts. We started by calling our senator. Currently, there are two gun control bills that have been stalled in the Senate. I know the idea of calling into a political office can be a terrifying (as an introvert even calling to order Chinese food can stress me out.) I hope listening to me call my senator shows that it is extremely easy…but above all, incredibly impactful if you chose to do so.We end our podcast by doing what we do best... trying to make you smile. Even though life is heavy, we believe laughter is one of the best medicines. Penn shares his favorite dad jokes, some great “would you rather” questions, and our honest review of the new Top Gun movie. Don’t forget to call us and leave a message - we might play your question in next week’s episode. Tell us what you like, ask a question, or just say hi. Call 323-364-3929.
