Laugh Lines with Kim & Penn Holderness
Amazing Race Prize & Your Questions
“So what did you do with your winnings from The Amazing Race?” is probably the most common question we get asked recently. But when we asked this wonderful community if you had questions for us (WHEW…) you came up with some good ones that were not that.
On our latest podcast we answered the The Amazing Race money question in full detail and so many other really, really insightful questions that may even spark meaningful discussions in your house. Like, “If you listed all the things you love, how long before you listed yourself?” (That one got me.) We also played a lightning round of our favorite things, one of which included our favorite meal to make at home: Pork Lettuce Wraps. Recipe here!

About the Holderness Family : Penn, Kim, Lola, and Penn Charles Holderness create original music, parodies, and Vlogs for YouTube and Facebook to poke fun of themselves and celebrate the absurdity in circumstances most families face in their day to day life. They published "Christmas Jammies" in December 2013 and life hasn't been the same. Since then, their popular parodies, "All About That Baste", "Baby Got Class," and original music "Snow Day" have received national news coverage. Penn, the Dad, took a chance and left his job as a news anchor to join his wife Kim, the Mom, at their video production and digital marketing company, Greenroom Communications, LLC. Lola and Penn Charles are always happy, respectful and eat all of their vegetables (that last sentence is a lie).
The Holderness Family Podcast is Edited and Engineered by Max Trujillo of Trujillo Media.

4. Working Our Pelvic Floor with Dr. Danielle Owens
34:30||Season 9, Ep. 4I have always endorsed my experience with pelvic floor therapy after having kids. It was life-changing, and insurance covered it. (Score.) But what if I told you that pelvic floor therapy wasn’t just for women who have had babies? What if I told you pelvic floor therapy could be for men too? This week on the podcast, we talked to Dr. Danielle Owens, a physical therapist and CAPP-Pelvic certified specialist. While pelvic health is typically associated with women, Dr. Owens stresses that men also face pelvic floor dysfunctions and can benefit greatly from therapy. We discuss why pelvic floor therapy is important, and we both work our pelvic floor muscles live on-air. Also, listen if you want to never look at blueberry the same again. (Although very helpful!)We end the show discussing if we are too old for day trips, what a ‘darty’ is, and we take more of your calls on the laugh line. (Please vote if you think we should take a day trip to Paris!) What do you want to hear us talk about? Leave us a voicemail at 323-364-3929 or write the show at podcast@theholdernessfamily.com. Could Ozempic Help Alzheimer's with Dr. Richard Isaacson
01:08:29||Season 9, Ep. 3This week, Kim and I have a vulnerable discussion about my risk of Alzheimer’s Disease. Three of my four grandparents, my late father, and my mother have all struggled with Alzheimer’s and dementia. As I have grown older, the fear of developing it has always been in the back of my mind. But I have something all of my family didn’t - new information on how to TRY to prevent it.We are honored to have Dr. Richard Isaacson join us and share his research as one of the leading voices in Alzheimer’s disease prevention. Dr. Richard Isaacson is Director of Research at The Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases (IND) and Director of the Precision Prevention Program at Atria Health and Research Institute. Penn Does Stand-Up & Presentation Tips with Page Fehling
46:14||Season 8, Ep. 14A year ago, our friend Charlie Berens asked Penn if he would open for him on his national stand-up tour. It was for a show in Durham, and Penn couldn't at the time. (I could tell he was almost relieved!) But when Charlie came back to NC this year and asked again, Penn said yes. To be clear, Penn has never tried stand-up comedy. And to my surprise, he was very nervous! This week we go along on Penn's journey into trying stand-up comedy, including how his performance went. We also bring on our friend and incredible speaker, Page Fehling, for some presentation tips that anyone can use. (You can find out more about Page here.) How did Penn do? How To Menopause with Tamsen Fadal
36:02||Season 8, Ep. 13I am so glad we're getting to a place where we don’t need to whisper the word "menopause" anymore. As you know, Penn and I have talked openly about my perimenopause journey. This week we have journalist and author (and our friend) Tamsen Fadal on the podcast to talk about her instant New York Times Bestselling book, How To Menopause. Tamsen talks about her story as well as advice from experts on how to reclaim your life during the menopausal years. Menopause is not the end. It’s the beginning of something else. Wills & Won'ts Before Turning 50
42:25||Season 8, Ep. 12I’m at the point in my life when there is probably more behind me than in front of me. While my default setting seems to put me in a place of depression or anxiety - I’m bizarrely excited about whatever life I have ahead of me. So on this last year before I stand on the doorstep of my 50th birthday - I have a plan. I want to show up to 50 stronger, kinder, and with more joy. Unraveling Sibling Success with Susan Dominus
46:30||Season 8, Ep. 11I've always been fascinated by how birth order shapes family dynamics, especially as we navigate this season of parenting. Penn and I are very aware that we don’t have many more years “on the record” with our kids. Have we done enough to help them become their best selves? This week, we’re chatting with Susan Dominus, an award-winning writer for The New York Times and a journalism professor at Yale. Her new book, The Family Dynamic, is all about what makes exceptional families tick—and since she couldn’t find a book that explored this, she spent years writing it herself! It’s available for pre-order now and comes out May 6th. We dig into what sets thriving families apart, what we can learn from them, and how to help our own kids succeed. Plus, we wrap up with another hilarious Top 5 list from Penn.
