Pod #62 – ‘The Driver’ (1978) – Baby Driver’s Biggest Inspiration?

Ep. 62

A special off-shoot podcast from Nigel and Páraic as they look at one of Edgar Wright’s biggest inspirations for his film Baby Driver, the 1978 Los Angeles car chase film The Driver.

The film stars Ryan O’Neal as the titular character, with Bruce Dern the crooked police chief doing whatever he can to catch him, and Isabelle Adjani the impressionable love interest. The film’s influence on Drive and Baby Driver is obvious from the outset, but does it hold up as a standalone work? Listen in to find out.
