Mom, Start a Business! with Cami Layne Langston: Online Marketing for SAHM's

[COACHING] Adding a Digital Product to a Blog

Season 1, Ep. 8

In this episode, I'm chatting with Ashley Havens. Ashley is a wife, mom of three, special needs advocate, and blogger. I met Ashley through Instagram (gotta love the gram for connecting like minded people across the world) and as we started chatting she mentioned that she was wanting to figure out a way to make more money from her mommy blog. She had started the blog as a way to document and share her experience of having a child with special needs and she was able to gain quite a bit of traffic from Pinterest but was still only making pennies from google ads.

She tried adding a small digital product but without much strategy behind it, it didn't do too well. After taking a bit of a break from the blog she is ready to get back at it, but this time with more strategy and a signature digital product of her own that she can promote.

We decided to hop on a Zoom call and talk it out to see what we could come up with and that's what you are going to hear today...Listen in to hear:

- why the traditional model of blogging for traffic is not the best business model for moms
- how to come up with a digital product idea you could offer
- the difference between courses and memberships and which would be best for your topic
- and so much more!

  • 5. [Coaching] How to Sell Before You Create

    24:07
Episode 005: Have you ever had an idea for a business but thought to yourself, "this would just take to much time and effort to create and I don’t even know if anyone would buy it?"That is what I thought when I was first starting in this whole online marketing world. I thought that if you had an idea for a digital product like a course or membership, you needed to create the whole thing first. Then I learned about the concept of pre-selling or beta launching. You see, the best way to see if people will actually pay you for something is to see if people will actually pay you for it! You can put your idea out there (letting them know that it's not created yet) and if enough people buy it then you can move forward in creating it.In this episode, I’m chatting with my Purpose to Profit Society member Amelia about her idea for a sewing course and membership. She has been doing sewing as a service but is wanting to move into the digital product space so she can spend less time sewing and more time with her family. In our chat we are trying to work through the best way for her to get started and get her idea out there. Connect with Amelia:Instagram: @mothersewsbestConnect with Cami:Instagram: @camilayneFacebook: www.facebook.com/momstartabusinessLeave a rating and review for the show: www.momstartabusiness.com/reviewThinking that it would be nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of, get feed back, and help you focus on the right next steps for you and your business?
