3 Beers And A Movie

The podcast is in the midst of a Scottish winter so unfortunately this week we were relying on the wonders of the streaming services, we will get to the cinema in the very near future for sure...we miss it!This week we start with Prime Video offering 'Sovereign' a taught true life thriller with Nick Offerman, its a tonal ying yang as we head to Quebec for Netflix rom-com 'French Kiss', before heading to Prime Video again for some WWII action 'Der Tiger' and we finish with a couple of Sky Cinema offerings starting with heist/thriller 'All The Devils Are Here' and we finish with the hard hitting stellar cast of 'Nuremberg'

We are back for 2026 for more movie watching and talking as we build towards the 3 Beers 2026 Top Ten....will any of this weeks movies feature in that? unlikely but maybe....We start with a recap of all the catch ups we had over the festive period, and then we dive into some newer releases. We start with Korean endtimes/scif thriller 'The Great Flood' on Netflix, one of us goes to the cinema to watch a sequel to a teenage favourite with a reimagining of 'Anaconda', then its back to Netflix for the directing debut of Kate Winslet with family drama 'Goodbye June' and we finish with more cinema action with a romcomscifi 'Eternity'

2025 is over (just about) and it is a time for reflection, what did we like, what did we not...but this is a mainly positive pod talking about all the things we love on the cinema screen in 2025.

We start this weeks episode with the saddest of sad stories with the death of the great Rob ReinerWe then have a good movie week starting with the latest murder mystery from Rian Johnson and the return on Benoit Blanc 'Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery', we find more mystery but this time in the magical world with 'Now You See Me: Now You Don't', we journey into deepest darkest Sweden with the revenge seeking machine that is 'Sisu: Road To Revenge' and we finish with 2023 thriller from French legend Luc Besson 'DogMan'.

A strong week of movie watching, we start with a trip to the cinema for new Richard Linklater film, a study of a man being left behind in the wonderfully poignant and funny 'Blue Moon', we then turn to Netflix for a possible film of the year and one that is sure to feature heavily in this years award ceremonies 'Train Dreams'. We then move to Prime Video for a double hit starting with 1980s set anthology feature 'Freaky Tales' followed by Lone Wolf and Cub style road movie in 'She Rides Shotgun' and we finish with a return to the land of Oz with the sequel to the 2024 blockbuster 'Wicked For Good'

In one of the more average of movie watching weeks we have a seen a lot but maybe not the most quality driven weekWe start with some Swedish scifi that (unfortunately) might be paving a new path for cinema 'Watch The Skies' on Prime Video, it's then too Apple+ for the sequel that we never asked for but got anyway 'The Family Plan 2', we then return to Prime Video to watch horror from the creator of The Purge, this time its 'The Home'. We stay on Prime Video for the star studded 'After The Hunt' and we finish with maybe the clunker of the year 'Dirty Angels'

The winter hibernation has begun but we are still men determined to get out and about and watch movies, but we also cocoon at home and lean heavily on streaming services. Up first new Ron Howard thriller that has dropped on Prime Video with an all-star cast 'Eden', we then turn to Netflix who deliver strong strong Pixar vibes with 'In Your Dreams', we then go back to Prime for a unique thriller from producer Sam Raimi 'Locked' and we finish with some trips to cinema, starting with the fourth Stephen King adaptation of the cinema year 'The Running Man' and true life crime thriller 'Roofman'

On this weeks episode we are doing our best to keep warm amid the snap of winter hitting ScotlandWe delve into Apple+ five part documentary one of the filmmaking greats in 'Mr Scorsese' , then its only movies starting with a new direction for a old franchise with 'Predator: Badlands' still in cinemas, Netflix offering a unique gameshow rom/com/thriller with 'Self Reliance', we then take the advice of a trusted 3Beers alumni and go to Disney+ to watch war photography doc 'Love + Hate' and we finish with another trip to the cinema this time for comedy 'Good Fortune' starring world treasure Keanu Reeves.
