10/10 You're Great

This week we three sidekicks (under communism, no one gets to be the main guy) discuss The Sidekicks' Awkward Breeds. It's underrated and it has got a bird on the cover and basically all we do is list similar facts such as that. Also up for breeding (discussion): This is now a presidential impression podcast, soda enemas are in (the wrong holes) and Boy Meets World, What About Boy Exits World: the Abraham Lincoln Story.

This week! You scream, I Scream, We All Scream! That is a pattern in 2026 and we believe in patterns! Hey, that's almost the name of the album we discussed on this episode. That's right, music critic, screamo-knower and fellow Alternative-head Elias joined us this week to walk us through I Would Set Myself On Fire For You's second record, Believes in Patterns. Almost certainly I messed up the title case somewhere in there so it's good Chris often forgets to read these.Other reasons to set yourself ablaze this week include: Haircuts in today's dollars must be put on a payment plan, is metalcore like metal ore in Minecraft, and also we all loudly agree that underscores rules which is great because it's true.

This week, we three social sons form a social scene for Broken Social Scene's Broken Social Scene and if that sentance hypnotized you please mail me your wallet. Also up for Fire Eye'd Boyscussion (that's boy-discussion, not concussion thats football stuff): We eulogize Fuddruckers and speculate on how guys used to be horny different style, Kevin Drew has written a much raunchier I Saw Mama Kissing Santa Claus, and WADS-1 is dead, long live DUMP-6.

This week we were joined by Kory Gregory of Prince Daddy & the Hyena (on the eve of the release of his new record, Hotwire Trip Switch) to talk about a much older, much bluer record. I will leave it to you to determine which record that is, and whether or not it has the smash hit Pork and Beans on it.Also up for discussion: We throw down the gauntlet on party foul world records, food used to turn you into all sorts of little guys, and Rivers Cuomo could not conceivably commit crimes unless he did.

This week we are joined by returning (to love) guest of the pod and head of the Alternative (available at getalternative.com this is not payola) Zac, who walks us through Lvl Up's classic record, Return to Love. And if you weren't aware of this record you just had to be exactly where I was in 2016 because it was everywhere.Also worth returning to: A certain website does March Madness and gets everything totally wrong per us, can a Shrewgirl love a Ratboy? yes if the girl is a man named Chris, and Slobodan is a funny name to say even if he did historically unfunny things.

This week/tonight we are officially changing the name of the podcast to "Oldboys Reminiscence: Eternal Summer Gone By" (Park Chan-wook can not sue us, this is a different thing!) because we are old and remembering when we weren't by revisiting LONG.LIVE.A$AP by A$AP Rocky.Also wildin' for the night: Elvis finds that Hallmark movie magic with a double-bevcheck disaster, the heinous tale of the ex-Turnstile guitarist is discussed, and we do not do any accents because if you put enough pauses between words they're just words.

Dateline 2 days ago: This week we were slightly late because we were busy with One Battles After Another (choosing what to eat on vacation, a recurring trial). Anyways what that is supposed to mean is apologies for the delay, here is an episode about Battles' first record, Mirrored.Also up for discussion: What is the shape of Mexico City and can it be contained to just one valley, Pitchfork appears to host an AI-written article about an AI-written album because this is hell, and did you know that one of the guys from Battles was in some other band with 1/1000th the clout? No? Well that's actually normal not to know, and it's nuts to pretend like that's common knowledge or to shame your co-hosts about it.

This week: Lucas is in Mexico, Chris is in Vegas and Charlie is in sweatpants, so we had to do a very BevCheck-forward minisode.Also up for discussion: Chris went to some shows... and that's it. It's too short to come up with three things that happen. There are shows and a Chocolate Starfish/Hotdog Water-flavored Bev - I have been served a subpoena demanding I never say that again, but it's true.
