10/10 You're Great

Minisode: Slot Progust Bites

Season 3, Ep. 32
•

Chris' endless summer (Mike Love) vacation has continued to plague the podcast so we just did a little episode where we checked a bev and listed every single rollercoaster's make, model, and forecasted date of death-- like instead of talking about music so if you're here for that stay tuned for other weeks.

Also since the bit is now like too many layers deep to be desciphered here is a primer on the month theme. In Reno Nevada (where we three hosts met), there is an annual classic car show event thing called Hot August Nights. Our first year of podcasting we decided to do "Hot August Bites" where we did albums named after food, like Salad Days and CAKE and stuff. The next August Chris tortured us by changing the theme to "Hot Progust Bites" and doing prog stuff, which you should never do to someone you love. Now our continued mutilation of the idea has brought us to "Slot Progust Bites" which will be like.. casinos or slot machines or something. It'll be fine. Stay tuned next year for Slot Progust Frights which will just be October.

  • 38. Minions and Monsters

    48:03||Season 3, Ep. 38
    It's just like they always say: Chris is the Gru of the podcast. So when he's out being Despicable He elsewhere, we minions must go solo. Which I guess is me saying that Chris is outta town so Lucas and Charlie watched a minion movie and talked about it and didn't even tell Chris we were doing this so I hope he's very suprised in Mexico City.Also up for discussion: A definitive ranking of all the minion movies, Trey Parker for prison, and aren't you glad I didn't say banana and/or do another Shrek Movie?
  • 37. Septheadber: Teens of Denial

    01:38:48||Season 3, Ep. 37
    After talking Talking Heads we decided to take an easy week and snooze our heads down on a Car Seat Headrest. I am pretty sure I have COVID right now so you legally have to pretend that was funny even though it wasn't. Anyways this week's record is Teens of Denial and we teens (pushing 40) are looking at it with clear eyes, which is the opposite of denial, so you know its true when we say its a 10/10. Also up for exploring our teen feelings: We do the worm on a bifurcated bev, laundry is the way that god punishes renters, and the Ed Sheeran pushback causes our Grinch hearts to grow 10/10 sizes.
  • 36. Septheadber: Remain in Light

    01:25:21||Season 3, Ep. 36
    This month for a very special month (of the month): it's Septheadber. Like September but with head in the middle, so all the albums/bands have "head" in the name. Anyways this week it's "the most obvious choice ever" (-Chris, rudely) with Talking Heads' Remain in Light. It remains a good album (in light). Do not call us "oldheads" by the way until we learn what that means.Also worth talking about with these talking heads: Macklemore remains (in light, again) the king of Seattle and good politics, P!nks many hits are played while we frown, and LCD Soundsystem is not The Dare for reasons of soul and having Pat.
  • 35. Slot Progust Bites: Ace of Spades with David Anthony

    02:00:22||Season 3, Ep. 35
    There's only one rule for 10/10 club: Never say there are too many moving parts in an episode title, and also Edward Norton DNI - this is a No Nort Zone. By which, of course, we mean that this week we were joined by David Anthony of Former Clarity who had it in his motörheart to return to the pöd to share his love of Motörhead's Ace of Spades for the final episode of Slot Progust Bites. And if you hate this theme you won’t soon because we have a worse one in the oven.Also up for Lemmscussion: Coaster Talk returns as we slowly morph into an Alan Schilke fancast, we say "oh yeahhhh" to a bicoastal BevCheck (David is in Chicago, the middle coast) and an extremely unfortunate lyrics court.
  • 34. Slot Progust Bites: Room on Fire

    01:18:06||Season 3, Ep. 34
    "Room on Fire? I hardly know her!" - Roomba Dangerfield. Wait no, sorry he would've said something about how he never gets no "room-spect" that's better pretend I said that. Anyways this week Slot Progust Bites continues with Room on Fire by The Strokes, the album that Time Magazine called "the one that came after Is This It and it has Reptilia on it."Also up for discussion: America's least competent send-off to one of it's most beloved icons, Orson Wells invented the Squidward Sound, and we have a great crossover idea for the Black Eyed Peas and the Hasbro corporation.
  • 33. Slot Progust Bites: Chance the Rapper

    01:25:53||Season 3, Ep. 33
    This week we dive into Slot Progust Bites in earnest with Chance the Rapper... because again Slot Progust Bites is a casino themed month and like.. games of chance are what that's called. Anyways for this week's episode we decided to unpack Chance's second and third mixtapes, Acid Rap and Coloring Book.Also up for gamblin' men-discussion (which is what Frank Sinatra called singing): Being corny became illegal in 2016 due to world events, we take a chance on a wetter than usual bev, and an extremely lukewarm defense of The Big Day.
  • 31. 1 Hit Wonders?

    56:55||Season 3, Ep. 31
    "What is a rose (wonder) by any other name (hit value)?" - Romeo Hanson, MMMBop (1997). This week we find out! And by that I mean we wax nostalgic about some of the 1 hit wonders of early indie adulthood. Does this work as an episode? Probably not but let us know or report your own childhood one hit wonder by calling us at 206-413-8676.
  • 30. There Is Love in You

    59:02||Season 3, Ep. 30
    This week this quartet (the 4th is the cat) discuss Four Tet and it’s a safe bet: There Is Love in You. Also in our tête-à-têt: The Chris is back in town, Everything Ecstatic whirls around, and long episode lovers are let down (because it’s a shorter episode).
